How to unsend email with Gmail? Can I actually recall a sent email?
Yes, of course, you can “recall” a sent email. Gmail provides an “Undo” feature in case you regret sending the email due to typos or forgotten file attachments. Supporting multiple devices, Gmail also allows users to recall emails on different devices.
1. After you hit the “Send” button, the editing panel will disappear, and the “Undo” button will show up.
2. Hit “Undo” in 5 seconds.
3. A pop-up window “Sending Undone” and the editing windows will appear. The unsent email will show up in Draft. You can re-edit your email again.
H2 How to Undend Gmail on Mobile Devices
1. Similarly, when hitting the paper plane “Send” icon on your mobile Gmail app, a pop-up window “Send. Undo” will appear.
2. Tap Undo immediately in 5 seconds.
3. The email will be recalled and archived in the Draft folder.
If the default 5 seconds is too short and you prefer a longer reaction time, you are also allowed to prolong the cancellation time to a maximum of 30 seconds.
Beyond 30 seconds, there is no remedy: you cannot recall Gmail after 30 seconds. Now check the tutorial to extend the cancellation time.
1. Click the Settings icon in the up-right corner > See all settings.
2. Find Undo Send > select 30 from the list.
3. Scroll down to the bottom > click Save Changes.
In addition, what is noticeable is that even if you can “unsend” an email, it doesn’t mean the email won’t have been read, recorded, or forwarded within 5-30 seconds. Not to mention that without protection, your email might also be under leak threats: malicious third parties will supervise your online activities and emails.
