Keylogger is so dangerous. How to detect keylogger software and remove it from PC?
Keylogger is a kind of software that records every keystroke, including your account, password, credit card numbers, chat messages, and other sensitive information. Except for a few legitimate software keyloggers such as Spyrix, Refog used for parental control or employee monitoring after consent, most keyloggers are malicious and illegal.
1. Open your Task Manage, go to the Processes tab and check for suspicious processes with strange names or high memory usage.
2. Use dedicated antivirus tools to scan keylogger and other malicious software. You can use built-in Windows Defender or install Malwarebytes for keylogger scanning.
3. Open your browser extensions and check if suspicious extensions are installed.
Step 1. Disconnect from the Internet
Disable Wi-Fi to prevent the keylogger from sending stolen data.
Step 2. Enter into safe mode
Hold Shift and click the Start menu and choose Restart.
Step 3. Use built-in Windows Defender to scan for keyloggers
Click Settings > Update & Security > Windows Security > Virus & Threat Protection. Then click Scan Options > Microsoft Defender Offline Scan > Scan now.
Step 4. Delete Keylogger files
Open your File Explorer and navigate to the location of your keylogger software. Then click Delete to delete suspicious files.
